Introduction to the Map

For the final piece of this research project I would like to explore a medium I am very unfamiliar with: fiber arts. Most of my art involves 2D pieces, and while in recent years I have begun to use metal, glass, and other mixed media, fiber arts is something that has evaded my work thus far. In a continuation of my archive piece involving my personal relationship with memory, I plan on creating a “map” of my final weeks at Oberlin. I hope the final product of this piece serves as a living memory of my time here; something that will not be finished in the duration of this class so I can continue to add pieces in the coming years.

I also love the safety and softness that can come with fiber arts, and want to play with that by experimenting with the addition of glass and other solid materials to my piece
